The Bioinformatics Laboratory participates in projects that require support for experimental design and the analysis of data from microarray, proteomics, sequencing, or metabolomics experiments. Examples of data analysis approaches include:

  • Pre-processing of omics data
  • (multivariate) statistical analysis
  • Application of machine learning methods
  • Integration of public biological databases with in-house data
  • Visualization
  • Grid computing

We also have various levels of experience with a range of traditional bioinformatics analysis techniques, such as:

  • Genome analysis
  • Sequence comparison
  • Identification of sequence motifs
  • Pathway analysis (e.g., pathway modules)
  • etc

Depending of the scientific question we either use existing methods or we develop new methods.

Support of local bioinformaticians
Several AMC groups have appointed one or more bioinformaticians to support local research projects. We have a good overview of much of the bioinformatics expertise and work in the AMC and can help you to get in contact with bioinformaticians outside our group. In addition, we support local bioinformaticians by, for example, developing appropriate training programmes, pointing them to relevant bioinformatics developments or jointly performing bioinformatics projects.
